Terms of service
Effective 2026-10-14
In short
Vantage shows the investment and bank accounts you connect, prices them, and helps you understand them. It only reads your accounts: it cannot place a trade or move money. Nothing in Vantage is investment, tax or legal advice, and its figures can be wrong or late, so check anything that matters against your institution. You own what you put in, you choose who sees your portfolio, and you can delete your account at any time.
1. These terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Just Joshing LLC (“Vantage”, “we”, “us”), which operates Vantage. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them and to our privacy policy, which explains what we collect and why. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What these words mean
- The Service is everything Vantage offers, however you reach it: the website at joinvantage.dev and the web app, the Vantage app for iPhone, the interfaces those apps use, and the email, push notifications, reviews, answers and other material they send or show you, including features added later.
- Connected accounts are the brokerage, retirement, bank, credit and other financial accounts you link, through SnapTrade, Plaid or any connection provider we add, and the institutions that hold them.
- Account data is what those connections send us about your connected accounts: balances, holdings, positions, cost basis, lots, orders and transactions, and everything Vantage works out from them, such as performance, value history, realized and unrealized gains, tax estimates and exposure.
- Market data is information about securities and markets rather than about you: prices, quotes, charts, volumes, corporate actions, company figures and filings, news and descriptions, from sources such as Alpaca, Yahoo Finance, the SEC, Wikipedia and Parallel.
- Your content is what you give the Service yourself: your name and handle, profile answers, watchlists and notes, the companies you track, the questions you ask, memories you keep, the comments and reactions you leave, and anything else you type or upload.
- Generated content is what the Service writes for you with automated tools, including machine-learning models: answers in chat, daily and weekly reviews and on-demand takes, first reads, suggested questions, market maps and research, observations about your portfolio, related companies and summaries.
- Sharing features are the parts of the Service that show one member’s portfolio, trades or day to another: following, the feed, shared portfolios, the day strip, reactions, comments, trade links and alerts about someone else’s moves.
- Third-party services are services we do not run that the Service relies on or links to, including SnapTrade, Plaid, your institutions, Clerk, Apple, Google, X, Anthropic, TypeSafe, Resend, PostHog, Vercel, Neon and the market data sources above.
3. Who can use Vantage
- You must be at least 18 and able to form a binding contract, and use the Service for yourself, not on behalf of someone else.
- Vantage is in a private beta: we may limit who can join, invite people in stages, and change or end the beta. Some features may be unfinished, change without notice, or be removed.
- The Service is built for accounts held in the United States and describes US rules (for example, US federal tax rules). You are responsible for using it lawfully where you are.
4. Your account
- You sign in with Apple, Google or X through our sign-in provider. Keep that account secure; you are responsible for what happens under your Vantage account, and should tell us at justjoshingllc@gmail.com if you think someone else has used it.
- You get a handle others can find you by. It must not impersonate anyone, mislead, or infringe someone else’s rights; we may change or reclaim a handle that does. Verifying an X account shows its username and picture to people who can see your profile.
- One account per person. Do not share your account or sign in as someone else.
5. Connecting accounts
- When you connect an account you authorize us, and the connection provider you use, to access that account’s information on your behalf and to keep it up to date until you remove the connection. You confirm that you are entitled to give that access.
- Vantage only reads. It asks connection providers for read-only access, refuses any connection that could trade, and has no feature that places an order, moves money or shows your full account numbers.
- Brokerages connect through SnapTrade, under SnapTrade’s End User Terms and Conditions, which you agree to before connecting. Bank accounts, and brokerages SnapTrade does not reach, connect through Plaid, under the Plaid End User Privacy Policy. Your relationship with your institution stays between you and it.
- Connections can break (an expired sign-in, a change at the institution or provider). You may need to reconnect, and account data may be missing, delayed or incomplete until you do. You can remove a connection at any time in Settings.
6. Not investment, tax or legal advice
The Service gives you information about your own accounts and the markets. It does not recommend buying, selling or holding any security, does not tell you what to do with your money, and is not tailored advice for your circumstances. Just Joshing LLC is not a broker-dealer, investment adviser, financial planner, accountant, tax preparer or law firm, and nothing in the Service, including generated content, creates a fiduciary or advisory relationship. Decisions about your investments and taxes are yours; consider consulting a qualified professional before making them.
Tax figures (realized gains, holding periods, positions below cost, possible wash sales, the tax-loss harvesting guide) are estimates rebuilt from the data your institutions send. Your institution’s tax documents, such as Form 1099-B, are the record for filing.
7. How accurate the figures are
- Account data comes from your institutions through connection providers, which can be late, incomplete or wrong. Trade history often arrives a day after the trade and reaches back only as far as your institution provides.
- Market data may be delayed (some quotes by 15 minutes or more), taken from a single exchange, missing, or wrong, and the sources we use may change. Values, day changes, performance and history are calculated from whatever data is available, and some past days are rebuilt from your trades and market prices rather than reported by your institution.
- We work to catch errors and say where figures are estimates or incomplete, but we do not guarantee that anything shown is accurate, complete or current. Check anything you rely on against your institution.
8. The assistant and other generated content
- Generated content is written by automated systems from your account data, market data and your content. It can be wrong, incomplete or out of date, even where we check it, and it is not advice (section 6). Do not rely on it without checking.
- Events shown for a company someone tracks are short summaries of public web pages, written by Parallel's automated systems and linked to the pages they cite. They can be wrong, incomplete or late, and they are not advice (section 6); the linked pages are the source.
- To produce it, we send the relevant data to the processors named in our privacy policy, such as Anthropic and TypeSafe, under terms that do not let them train their models on it.
- Some features have daily limits, shown in the app, and we may change them. Do not use the Service to generate content that breaks the law or these terms.
9. Sharing and the people you follow
- Nobody sees your portfolio unless you both agree. You choose which accounts are shared, how delayed, whether dollar amounts show, how finely percentages are rounded, whether your day’s move shows, and with whom; you can change or end a share at any time. Ending a share stops new access; it cannot take back what someone has already seen. Someone you share with can send one of your trades on as a picture and a link, in percentages only; it stops opening when you stop sharing with them, though a message already sent keeps its picture.
- What others share with you is theirs. Use it to follow along inside Vantage, and pass a trade of theirs on only with the Service’s own share: do not otherwise copy, publish or sell it, or use it to identify, contact or harass anyone outside the Service.
- Comments and reactions on a shared trade are seen, with your handle, by the trade’s owner and everyone the owner shares it with. The owner of a trade can delete comments on it, and we may remove any comment or reaction that breaks these terms.
- Other members’ trades and comments are their own views and actions, not advice from us and not endorsed by us. Following someone else’s trades carries all the risks of any investment decision, and is your choice.
10. Your content and permissions
- You keep ownership of your content. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, process, display and transmit it, and to create generated content from it, only to operate, secure and improve the Service, including showing it to the people you choose to share with. The license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep by law or that sit in backups until they expire.
- You are responsible for your content and confirm you have the right to provide it. Do not post anything unlawful, defamatory, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, misleading, or that infringes someone else’s rights, and do not post someone else’s private information.
- If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.
11. Using the Service fairly
You agree not to:
- break any law or regulation, or use the Service to commit fraud, market manipulation or any other misconduct;
- connect, view or share an account you are not authorized to access, or misrepresent who you are;
- scrape, crawl, copy or resell the Service or its market data, or access it through automated means other than the apps we provide;
- probe, overload or disrupt the Service, get around its security, limits or access controls, or reverse engineer it, except where the law allows despite this;
- use the Service to build a competing product, or to train or benchmark a machine-learning model;
- harass, threaten, spam or impersonate other members, or use sharing features to mislead anyone about an investment.
12. Messages from us
We send email and, if you turn them on in the iPhone app, push notifications: about people you follow and share with, comments and reactions, big moves you asked to hear about, connections that need attention, and the Service itself. You can turn each kind off in Settings or from any email, except messages we must send you about your account, security or these terms.
13. Fees
The Service is free during the beta. If we introduce paid plans or features, we will tell you the price and terms before you are charged, and nothing already free to you will be charged without your agreement.
14. Third-party services
The Service relies on and links to third-party services (section 2). Your use of them is governed by their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for them, for their availability, or for what they do with information you give them directly, such as your institution sign-in.
15. The Vantage app for iPhone
If you use the Vantage app from Apple’s App Store, these terms are between you and Just Joshing LLC, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app, and is not responsible for addressing any claim about it, including product liability, consumer protection or intellectual property claims. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, which may refund its purchase price (if any); to the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation. You must also follow the App Store’s terms, and confirm you are not in a country subject to a US embargo or on a US list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
16. Our rights in the Service
The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics and the name and marks “Vantage”, belongs to Just Joshing LLC and its licensors. We give you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service under these terms. Market data belongs to its providers and is shown for your personal use only.
17. Changes, suspension and ending
- We may change, add or remove features, and stop the Service, with reasonable notice where we can.
- We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if we must by law, or to protect the Service, other members or third parties.
- You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account in Settings, Account. Deleting it removes your connections at SnapTrade and Plaid and deletes your data as the privacy policy describes.
- Sections 6 to 8, 10, 14, and 16 to 22 survive the end of these terms.
18. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service, including all account data, market data and generated content, is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
19. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Just Joshing LLC and its members, officers, employees and suppliers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, investment losses, trading losses, lost opportunities, tax penalties or loss of data, arising from or related to the Service or these terms, even if told they were possible. Our total liability for all claims related to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or 100 US dollars.
Some places do not allow some of these limits, so they apply to you only as far as the law where you live allows.
20. Your responsibility to us
You will defend and compensate Just Joshing LLC for claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your breach of these terms, or your misuse of the Service, as far as the law allows.
21. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California and applicable US federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Before bringing a claim, please write to justjoshingllc@gmail.com so we can try to resolve it. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be heard only in the state or federal courts located in California, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing here limits any right you have as a consumer that the law of where you live does not allow to be limited.
22. Everything else
- We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will update the date above and tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect; using the Service after that means you accept the new terms.
- These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. Not enforcing a part is not a waiver of it.
- You may not transfer these terms without our consent; we may transfer them as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of the Service.
- We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
